Sparks City Attorney Domestic Battery Conviction

A man has been convicted of domestic battery following an incident in Sparks in April 2024.

The Sparks City Attorney's Office says Jordan Ellingson was convicted last month.

Prosecutors say in May 2024, the victim told law enforcement in Elko of an incident that happened at the Sparks Nugget a few weeks prior where she woke up to see Ellingson searching through her phone and screaming at her. They say she told Ellingson to stop since their child was sleeping in the room and then told him to leave but he grabbed her. When they say she refused to acknowledge Ellingson, he strangled her. She tried to escape but he pulled her back into the room.

After Sparks Police got photos of the victim's injuries, they got a warrant.

On December 18, the Sparks City Attorney’s Office secured a conviction for Domestic Battery, first offense, against Ellingson.  As a result of the conviction, Ellingson was sentenced to 180 days Washoe County Jail suspended for 2 years on the condition Ellingson: serve 2 days of house arrest, complete 48 hours of community service, pay a $200 fine and a $35 domestic violence fee, complete 26 weeks of domestic violence counseling, complete an effects of violence in the home course, obey all laws, abstain from the use of controlled substances and/or alcohol, and have no contact with the victim.
