A 33-year-old man faces an open murder charge in connection with a deadly shooting that happened last October in Reno.

Police say Jamal Wright was arrested on Friday by Sparks Police in connection with the death of 25-year-old Christopher Ramos of Reno.

Update (10/30/2024, 7 p.m.):

Secret Witness is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of suspects wanted in connection with a homicide in Reno.

It happened Sunday on Mae Anne Avenue.

A man was left dead from an apparent gunshot wound.

The suspects are still outstanding.

Update (10/28, 11:42 a.m.): 

A release from the Reno Police Department has revealed that the department is investigating our earlier-reported death as a homicide.

Just after 3:00 a.m. on October 27, officers responded to 7000 Mae Anne Avenue - at the Aviana at Tuscany Apartments - to a report of a shot fired in the area.

When officers arrived, they found a man had been shot.

The victim was pronounced dead on the scene by medical personnel. At that point, The Reno Police Department Robbery Homicide Unit took over the investigation.

The suspect in the investigation is still outstanding, however detectives believe that this is an isolated incident with no threat to the public.

The identification of the victim will be released after proper notifications have been made.

Detectives with the Reno Police Department are investigating a death in a northwest Reno apartment complex tonight.

The investigation is taking place at the Aviana at Tuscany Apartments, on Mae Anne Avenue in Reno.

Reno Police Department is currently on scene.

Lieutenant Mike Browett with the Reno Police Department was able to confirm that there is no active threat to the community.
