Update August 28, 5:10 p.m.

The Washoe County Medical Examiner's Office has released the identity of a man who died at the Sparks Marina last Friday.

25-year-old Luis E. Lopez-Lopez of Sparks was pronounced dead at the scene.

The cause and manner of death are pending investigation.

Update August 27, 2:52 p.m.

The Sparks Police Department has divulged new information regarding the body found at the Sparks Marina on Friday, August 23.

Sparks Police responded to a call around 8:40 a.m. on August 23 to the northern side of Sparks Marina for an unresponsive adult male in the water. Officers and medical personnel located the man, who was pronounced deceased at the scene.

An investigation was opened, and has revealed that the man was seen by witnesses swimming alone in the vicinity of the peninsula at the Sparks Marina earlier in the week on Tuesday, August 20, in the early afternoon.

Foul play does not appear to be a factor.

The investigation is currently ongoing. The Sparks Police Department is asking that anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who may have any information about this incident contact the Sparks Police Detectives at (775) 353-2225 or Secret Witness at (775) 322-4900.

Update August 23, 3:37 p.m.

Sparks Police Department has confirmed that a body of a man was found in the Sparks Marina this morning.

The body was recovered by Sparks Fire Department.

The man has not yet been identified.

Detectives are currently investigating, and it is being considered suspicious.

Emergency crews responded to the Sparks Marina around 8:15 a.m. on Friday Morning.

Sparks Police are now on the scene investigating an unknown incident and have sectioned off a portion of the marina.
