A recent break in a months-long investigation has led to the return of a Missouri man to Placer County to face several felony charges involving a child.
According to the Placer County Sheriff’s Office in an online post, detectives began the case in April 2025 after determining the man had been communicating with a child in Placer County for the purpose of obtaining illicit material.
Deputies said the search led them to Missouri, where he was located with the help of the U.S. Marshals Service, the St. Charles County Police Department, and the St. Charles Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
Deputies said the arrest happened on November 4, and the man has since been extradited to Placer County.
According to the post, he was booked into the Placer County Jail and is required to answer to multiple felony charges involving sexual exploitation of a child.
The sheriff’s office said it remains committed to safeguarding children and will continue working with law enforcement partners to identify and locate people involved in crimes against children.
