Update, 2 p.m.:

According to the Nevada State Police, a car was traveling westbound and crossed into the eastbound lanes on Mount Rose Highway just west of Mount Rose Ski Resort and hit a car traveling eastbound in a head-on crash.

The driver and passenger in the eastbound car were both transported to the hospital with substantial injuries.

The driver who was traveling westbound is suspected to have been impaired and was arrested. Their identity is not being released at this time.

Update, 11:40 a.m.:

According to NDOT, as of 11:40 a.m., the crash has been cleared.

All lanes on Mount Rose Highway have reopened.

Update, 11:05 a.m.:

Mt. Rose highway has been reopened, with directions of travel being alternated through the incident area.

Drivers should still use caution as they approach Mt. Rose summit; traffic does back up slightly as each direction is lead through the affected area.

According to the Nevada State Police, two cars were involved in a head-on crash. 

One driver is suspected to be impaired.

All drivers and passengers were transported to a hospital with unknown injuries.

The crash is blocking both directions of traffic near the Mt. Rose Summit parking lot.
