Nevada Attorney General Aaron D. Ford has announced that will he run for governor in 2026.

Attorney General Ford was first elected to his position as attorney general in 2018. He was then re-elected in 2022 and his current term ends January 2027.

Before serving as Nevada State Attorney General, Ford was a state senator and served as both the Majority Leader and the Minority Leader in the Nevada State Legislature and held leadership roles on several legislative committees.

In response to Ford's announcement, Better Nevada PAC released the following statement:

"Aaron Ford is a corrupt politician who has spent his career pushing his dangerous woke agenda on Nevada families while enjoying the special interest-funded perks of higher office," said Better Nevada PAC spokesman John Burke. "Ford can't be trusted to keep us safe, represent the interests of Nevadans, or uphold the public's trust. With our state finally on the right track under Governor Joe Lombardo, Nevada voters will reject Ford and his radical campaign in 2026."
