Nevada Health Link is inviting the community to learn about new rules and health plans ahead of its open enrollment period beginning November 1st.

One of the biggest changes is 'Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals', also known as DACA recipients.

Russell Cook, executive director of Nevada Health Link, says, "We estimate that there are 11,000 of those individuals in Nevada, so it's a great opportunity. If they didn't qualify for Medicaid and they didn't qualify for Nevada Health Link coverage prior, please seek out some free assistance from an enrollment professional. You can find out very quickly if you qualify."

Cook says each Affordable Care Act plan carries at least 10 essential health benefits that are required by regulations.

"Those include prenatal care, ambient care, preventive care. So, the insurance we get, even if you don't qualify for premium reductions stills offer more comprehensive and higher quality care than any other option out there in Nevada."
