Super Bowl weekend can be a fun time for football fans, but the Nevada State Police just want folks to have fun safely.
NSP says that the weekend historically sees an uptick in impaired driving incidents nationwide.
According to The Sun, distracted driving incidents have been seen to increase during Super Bowl Sunday, as drivers are more often checking their phones for updates or being distracted in other ways.
To make sure your Super Bowl stays safe, the Nevada State Police have provided the following tips:
- Plan Ahead: Arrange for a sober driver, use ride-sharing services, or use public transportation. Impairment is impairment - driving under the influence of any substance is illegal and dangerous.
- Stay Alert: Avoid distractions like texting or checking game updates while driving.
- Look Out for One Another: If you see someone attempting to drive impaired, intervene by helping them find a safe way home.
The Nevada Highway Patrol will be increasing patrols and setting up DUI checkpoints throughout Nevada to help deter and catch impaired driving.
