On Tuesday 'Our Center' held a free vaccination clinic for respiratory illnesses and viruses that are often seen in the colder months.

They offered a range of vaccinations including influenza vaccines, m-pox and the updated COVID-19 vaccine.

Susie Deller, the Vaccine Event Coordinator for Northern Nevada Public Health explains the newest version of the COVID-19 vaccine.

"We have the updated COVID vaccine that's been formulated for 2024-2025 and it's just become available since September, and we are offering their only COVID vaccine that is available," she said. "The last year's formulation has been discontinued."

"It's a preventative measure so it will prepare your body to protect itself against any exposure to the current viruses that are out there for COVID-19 or for flu," said Deller.

"Right now, COVID hospitalization are up in Washoe County, and I think it would be a great idea to take advantage of some of these free opportunities to get vaccinated for COVID and for flu," she added.

If you missed out on Tuesday there is another opportunity to get vaccinated at their free vaccination clinics this weekend.

Their next free vaccination clinic will be on Saturday, October 19th at the Northern Nevada Public Health Washoe County Complex on 1001 East Ninth Street from 10 a.m. to noon with no insurance required.
