The Northwest Reno Library is set to close as it undergoes major system upgrades and building work that will keep the branch shut through the summer.

The library will close to the public on Wednesday, May 6, for a heating and cooling replacement, along with a roof retrofit. Officials expect the branch to reopen in late summer.

During the closure, library team members will be reassigned to other Washoe County Library System branches. Hold pickup and book returns at the Northwest Reno location will be paused while work is underway, but returns can still be made at any other Washoe County Library location.

Residents will still have access to library services at 11 other branches across the county. In the Northwest Reno area, patrons can also visit the Verdi Community Library & Nature Center on Tuesdays from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. and Wednesdays from 2:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.

The Washoe County Library System said it appreciates community support during the closure and noted that services will continue online and at other locations. More information on hours and services is available at washoecountylibrary.us.
