Palisades Tahoe has experienced a rare August dusting of snow for the first time in 20 years.

This marks the first time Palisades has seen snow in August since 2004.

Mt. Rose and Mammoth Mountain also reported seeing some flurries on Saturday.

It's unusual to see snow this early in the year, with a full month of summer remaining, but under the right conditions snow can fall at any time of year - though it usually melts off quickly in the summer.

For many, the early snowfall is a perfect reminder that ski season is right around the corner.
