A Washoe County Park Ranger and his family are relocating to the caretaker’s residence on the Bowers Mansion property after losing their home in the Davis Fire.
According to a release from the Washoe County Board of County Commissioners, Park Ranger Andrew Brown and his family had been living in the staff residence at Davis Creek Regional Park until it was destroyed in last year’s wildfire.
At a recent meeting, the County Board approved an Employee Residence Agreement allowing the Brown family to move into the now-vacant caretaker’s home on the Bowers Mansion grounds, not inside the mansion itself.
While living on the property, Brown will handle general caretaking duties for the mansion and surrounding grounds, as well as respond to after-hours emergencies and perform emergency snow removal when needed.
