Update (4/15/2025, 12:38 p.m.):

The Sparks Police Department has released new information related to a DUI arrest made early Monday morning.

The driver in the case has been identified as 21-year old Gasper Guzman Mendez.

According to officials, no further information will be released.

A man faces charges of driving under the influence and resisting arrest - after he was found inside a van in a Sparks yard early Monday morning. 

Police say they initially responded to a report of a car going off the roadway and into a yard, near Rock Blvd. and Vance Way just before 3:45 a.m.

Officers say witnesses also told them they could hear car alarms going off and that the white van appeared to be stuck on a light pole close to a home.

When they arrived on scene, they found the driver incoherent. The driver was eventually transported to jail in a safe restraint for his and officers' safety.

The unidentified driver was booked into the Washoe County Jail where he was booked on the following charges

* Driving Under the influence

* Obstructing and Resisting public officer
