The Regional Gang Unit has arrested five suspected gang members on various felony charges during a targeted operation in Sparks.Â
Police say residents living near Moorpark Court and El Rancho Drive had reported a noticeable increase in suspected gang activity, so a targeted operation was set up resulting in five arrests last Friday.
During the operation, authorities say RGU detectives seized a significant amount of cocaine, marijuana derivatives, drug paraphernalia, money, and one car.
During the operation, RGU detectives also caught a suspect wanted by the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office for Home Invasion, Battery with a Deadly Weapon, and Robbery.
Authorities say all five juveniles were arrested. Because they are juveniles, their names will not be released.Â
The Regional Gang Unit is a joint effort comprising of officers and detectives from the following
agencies: Reno Police Department, Sparks Police Department, Washoe County Sheriff’s Office,
Washoe County School Police, DPS Parole and Probation, and Washoe County Dept. of Juvenile
Probation and Parole.Â
