A man has been arrested in connection with a hit-and-run crash that killed a pedestrian early Wednesday in Sparks.
Officers responded around 12:30 a.m. to Glendale Avenue and 21st Street, where they found a person dead on the ground. The car involved had left the scene.
After further investigation by the Major Accident Investigation Team, police identified the suspect as 45-year-old Kelly Burroughs of Reno. Investigators located both Burroughs and the car on Sky Valley Drive in Reno.
Burroughs was arrested and booked on multiple charges, including:
- Duty to stop at the scene of an accident causing death
- Destroying or altering evidence
- Multiple outstanding warrants
- Driving with a suspended license
- Driving with a suspended vehicle registration
- No vehicle insurance
The victim’s identity is being withheld until next of kin can be notified.
The Sparks Police Department thanked the public for their help during the investigation. Anyone with additional information is encouraged to call Sparks Police at 775-353-2231 or Secret Witness at 775-322-4900. A reward of up to $1,500 had been previously offered in this case.Â
