Original Story:
A Reno man faces life in prison after being convicted today of sexually abusing a 6-year-old girl.
Washoe County District Attorney Chris Hicks shared today that a jury has found 70-year-old Joseph Greco guilty of two counts of lewdness with a child under the age of 14.
The Washoe County Sheriff's Office (WCSO) received a report in March of 2023 that an underage victim had been sexually abused.
When WCSO deputies responded, the parents of the victim said that while visiting Reno, someone saw Greco putting his hand down the child's pants.
Later, when the victim's father asked the girl if she had ever been touched in a way that made her feel uncomfortable, she said that she had and identified Greco as the person who did so.
The victim was also able to identify other times where Greco sexually abused her, both in Reno and out of state. She said that he had been abusing her since she was two years old.
Over the course of the investigation, deputies learned that Greco sexually abused other children that he knew.
Sentencing for Greco is set for July 24, where he faces life in prison.
