For a multi-agency training exercise that simulates an active attacker scenario, emergency response teams will gather at North Valleys High School this week.

The Reno Police Department, Reno Fire Department, and Washoe County School District Police Department will participate in the two-day exercise on Wednesday and Thursday at the high school on East Golden Valley Road.

Officials said the training will take place during daylight hours and involve emergency response to an active assailant scenario.

Numerous police and fire cars will be present in the area and parked on the school campus during the drill.

Police radio scanner traffic is also expected to be active as the scenario unfolds.

Residents are advised that the event is only a training exercise. Authorities asked the public not to call emergency services in response to radio activity or the sight of emergency vehicles near the school.
