UPDATE - January 16, 2025

The Reno Police Department's Major Accident Investigation Team is seeking the public's help with their investigation of a fatal crash that occurred on December 17, 2024, at around 4 p.m.

Police believe that someone may have witnessed the crash or seen the person that was killed in the area of Wedekind Road and Silverada Boulevard shortly before the crash.

The Reno Police Department is asking anyone who may have seen anything relative to the crash or knows someone that might to contact their non-emergency line at (775) 334-2677 or contact Secret Witness by calling or texting their tip line at (775) 322-4900 or secretwitness.com


ORIGINAL - December 17, 2024

A pedestrian died after being hit by a car in northeast Reno on Tuesday evening.

It happened just after 4 p.m. near the intersection of Wedekind Road and Silverada Boulevard according to a release from the Reno Police Department.

The pedestrian was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries and died shortly after being transported.

The Reno Police Department's Major Accident Investigation Team is handling the investigation.

The car involved stayed on scene and the driver is cooperating with the investigation.

Speed and impairment do not appear to be factors in the crash.

The identity of the pedestrian is being withheld until next of kin can be informed.
