JANUARY 14 UPDATE:

A suspect has been arrested in a hit-and-run crash that critically injured a child in Sparks on Tuesday.

On Wednesday, officers from the Major Accident Investigation Team found the suspect vehicle parked on Summit Sierra Boulevard unoccupied and seized the vehicle as evidence, according to a release from the Sparks Police Department.

Officers later found and interviewed the suspect, identified as 18-year-old Christian Escobar of Reno.

Escobar was arrested and booked into the Washoe County Jail.

He has been charged with duty to stop at the scene of accident involving personal injury and/or death.

The SPD thanked the public for helping in the investigation.

Sparks Police have released a picture of the suspect vehicle in a hit-and-run crash that seriously injured a child on Tuesday.

A reward in the amount of $1,000 dollars is being offered by Secret Witness for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the suspect wanted in connection with this crash. 

Police say they responded to a report of a crash between a vehicle and an electric scooter at 2:41 p.m. at the intersection of Rock Boulevard and I Street.

They confirmed that a child was hit by a vehicle heading south on Rock Boulevard, which then took off southbound.

That vehicle is described as a black Cadillac Escalade, GMC Yukon, or Chevrolet Tahoe-style vehicle with dark-tinted windows. It has visible front-end damage from the crash.

Police are asking the public for help finding the vehicle.
