January 31, UPDATE:

Secret Witness is now offering a $500 reward for any information leading to the arrest and prosecution of the person wanted in connection with the stabbing of a man in the area of 16th and H Streets in Sparks on January 30.

8:35 P.M. UPDATE:

Sparks Police confirmed details of a stabbing on Thursday afternoon that put one person in the hospital.

Officers responded to the area of H and 16th Streets around 2:10 p.m. on reports of a stabbing according to an SPD press release.

A man was found and taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Because of the stabbing, the campuses of Sparks High and Robert Mitchell Elementary were temporarily secured.

Police say this is an isolated incident with no further threat to the public.

Sparks High has joined Robert Mitchell Elementary in returning to normal operations.

Robert Mitchell Elementary School has returned to normal operations and students will be released as normal.

Sparks High School remains a secured campus and will be in a controlled release.

Sparks High and Robert Mitchell Elementary schools are currently in a secured campus due to a nearby stabbing.

The Washoe County School District made the announcement on its website at 2:17 p.m. Thursday. Sparks High School is doing a controlled release.

Police responded to the area initially for a reported stabbing where they found a victim with unknown injuries. 

As of right now, police are looking for a suspect and there's no description of the person.
