In a spirited show of community support, local deputies and firefighters will once again face off at the 13th Annual 'Guns and Hoses' Golf Tournament, set for Monday, April 21, at LakeRidge Golf Course in Reno.
The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office and the Truckee Meadows Fire Association IAFF 2487 are trading in badges and hoses for golf clubs, all in support of children battling cancer through the Northern Nevada Children’s Cancer Foundation (NNCCF).
Since the tournament’s inception in 2013, the event has raised a remarkable $274,922.45, all dedicated to helping children and families facing pediatric cancer.
This year’s tournament already demonstrates incredible generosity, with $28,000 raised before a single swing is taken.
The morning kicks off at 8:30 a.m. with a heartfelt program featuring Washoe County Sheriff Darin Balaam, Interim Fire Chief Dale Way of Truckee Meadows Fire & Rescue, NNCCF Executive Director Brigette Cole, and a local family whose child has bravely battled cancer.
Following the opening remarks, a shotgun start will launch the tournament at 9:00 a.m.
This annual event is made possible through the unwavering support of the community, including Duncan Golf Management, GGRM Law Firm, and over 50 dedicated partners.
Proceeds from the event go directly to the NNCCF, which provides financial aid, emotional support, and advocacy for increased research funding, all aimed at improving the lives of children fighting cancer.
