McQueen High School resumes normal operations as the school police determined the threat to be unfounded.
According to the Washoe County School District, school police responded to the threat but determined it was unfounded on Tuesday.
Eventually, the school later resumed normal operations, but police are continuing to stay on campus.
School officials said, "It is illegal to place emergency calls for assistance when no legitimate emergency exists, and the consequences for this crime can be severe."
School officials also said, "False calls for emergency service divert resources away from genuine calls for help and can become life-or-death situations for members of the community who must wait for assistance."
Anybody with concerns or questions is urged to call the school at  775-746-5880. You may also report school and student safety concerns anonymously by contacting SafeVoice Nevada at  833-216-7233.
