The Sparks Police Department has just released details about a gun being fired on Thursday in the area of El Rancho Drive.

The report came in from the Shot Spotter system used by the city to detect gunfire.

When officers arrived on scene, they investigated and found three juvenile boys that were involved. Those boys later tried to leave the area in a car.

The Regional Gang Unit stepped in to take lead on the investigation, and it was discovered that one of the boys had fired multiple gunshots into an occupied car.

Officials were able to find the victim, who was uninjured. However, the victim's vehicle had multiple bullet holes.

The three boys' names will not be released, due to their ages.

The three juveniles were brought to the Washoe County Juvenile Justice Center and booked on the following charges:

  • Assault with a deadly weapon
  • Discharge of a firearm into an occupied vehicle
  • Discharge of a firearm where others may be endangered
  • Juvenile in possession of a firearm
  • Carrying a concealed weapon
  • Tampering with evidence
  • Minor in consumption of alcohol
