A semi-truck blocked both lanes of State Route 108, also known as Sonora Pass, after a driver traveled onto a route where access warnings and restrictions were posted.
According to Cal Trans District 9 in an online post, the closure happened Tuesday morning after a semi-truck blocked both lanes just east of Leavitt Creek Vista Point. The Division said semi-trucks over 38 feet from the kingpin to the rear axle are prohibited on State Route 108.
CHP Bridgeport said in an online post that the driver ignored numerous signs and warnings because the GPS showed the route was acceptable. The post included a reminder for drivers to use approved legal access routes for trucks and trailers.
The road in the area has multiple swerves and curves, and photos from the scene showed the semi-truck blocking the roadway.
In an online post, at 3:35 p.m., on Tuesday, Cal Trans District 9 advised that SR 108 (Sonora Pass) had reopened to traffic.
Drivers can check road closures and conditions through the state’s QuickMap system.
