The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office announced in an online Facebook post that it has launched a new Bike Unit.
The post says that the unit will primarily be based in Incline Village, but will be available countywide to boost patrols, support community events, and provide e-bike safety education.
Deputies assigned to the unit are equipped with electric bikes to improve mobility and engagement across urban and trail areas.
The deputies recently attended a regional law enforcement bike school, where they trained in tactical riding, bike handling in urban and trail environments, basic bike maintenance, e-bike operations, and strategies for engaging with the public on two wheels.
In the post, the Sheriff’s Office acknowledged local support, saying, “A big thank you to our local partner, Washoe County School Police @washoe_schoolpolice, for helping get our Deputies ready.”
