The Washoe County School District is releasing more details on what led to this week's lockdown at Sparks High School.

The WCSD says staff at Robert Mitchell Elementary School contacted school police to report a disturbance near campus possibly involving high school-aged students with one person appearing to be hurt and missing clothing.

While officers were responding to the school, another report was received from Sparks High School staff who mentioned a student armed with a pocketknife on campus.

As a result, both schools were put on temporary lockdowns while officers responded and secured the campus.

The WCSD says school police detained one student suspect and the alleged pocketknives were recovered.

One person was later arrested on charges of Disturbance of School and one count of Assault with a Deadly Weapon.

The investigation is ongoing with other criminal charges pending.

One person suffered minor injuries.

School Police say this appears to be an isolated incident between private parties with no indications of gang affiliation.
