Sparks Police arrested a suspect Saturday morning, accused of assault with a deadly weapon.

It happened at the Raley's Supermarket near the intersection of North McCarran Boulevard and Pyramid Way just after 8:30 a.m.

Officers arrived to find a delivery driver who said a man, later identified as Charles Macaluso, aggressively approached him multiple times with a knife.

A witness intervened and Macaluso fled the scene, according to a press release from the Sparks Police Department.

He was quickly located by officers and was still holding the knife as officers made contact with him.

Macaluso was safely taken into custody without incident and was also found to be in possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.

He was charged with assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
