Update, March 17, 2026: 

Victor Ledezma-Caballero, the driver involved in a December 2023 crash on Plumb Lane in Reno that injured three people, has been sentenced to 36 months in prison.

The state had requested the maximum sentence of 28–72 months for each count of reckless driving, to be served consecutively. The defense had sought probation only.

Judge Riggs initially imposed 28–72 months for both counts to be served concurrently, then suspended that sentence and instead ordered 36 months.

Ledezma-Caballero must also serve 8 months in jail, receiving credit for 60 days already served. He is required to complete alcohol and controlled substance therapy, undergo a substance use evaluation after release, and is subject to search and seizure at any time.

Additionally, he is ordered to have no contact with the male victim.

Update, January 20, 2026:

A jury has found Victor Ledezma-Caballero guilty of two counts of reckless driving resulting in substantial bodily harm.

He was arrested after driving a car into oncoming traffic in December of 2023, according to a release from the Washoe County District Attorney's Office.

He was speeding, driving 70 miles per hour, when he crossed into oncoming traffic on Plumb Lane near Hunter Lake Drive, hitting an SUV head-on.

Sentencing is set for March 16, and Ledezma-Caballero faces one to six years for each count of reckless driving.

The state intends to seek the maximum sentence.

Update, January 12, 2026:

Jury selection is underway in the trial of the man accused of a fiery crash that injured three people in December 2023.

Victor Ledezma-Caballero is charged with driving under the influence, reckless driving, and multiple traffic violations in connection with a fiery crash on Hunter Lake Drive in Reno back in December 2023.

Update, June 24, 2024:

A man was arrested on Monday for his alleged involvement in the crash.

Victor Ledezma-Caballero faces the following charges:

Two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, causing substantial bodily harm, and one count of failing to drive on the right half of the road.

According to police, Ledezma-Caballero met with detectives to surrender himself after a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Original Story, December 13, 2023:

Three people are in the hospital after a fiery two-car crash on West Plumb Lane early Wednesday morning. 

The crash happened after 6:15 a.m. near Hunter Lake Drive.

Reno Fire tells us that three REMSA ambulances responded, along with 16 fire personnel.

The roadway was temporarily closed and reopened around 3:30 p.m.

There's no immediate word on what caused the crash.
