“Golden,” from the massively popular animated film “KPop Demon Hunters,” won original song at Sunday’s Oscars. The first-time nominees behind the song are EJAE, Mark Sonnenblick, Joong Gyu Kwak, Yu Han Lee, Hee Dong Nam, Jeong Hoon Seon and Teddy Park. “Golden,” is the first K-pop song to win in the category. The team beat Diane Warren for “Dear Me” from “Diane Warren: Relentless,” Raphael Saadiq and Ludwig Göransson for “I Lied to You” from “Sinners,” Nicholas Pike for “Sweet Dreams of Joy” from “Viva Verdi!” and Nick Cave and Bryce Dessner for “Train Dreams” from “Train Dreams.” Earlier in the evening, Göransson took home the Oscar for original score for “Sinners.”
Meet the woman behind the 2026 Academy Awards' star-studded performances, choreographer Mandy Moore. That includes Ejae, Audrey Nuna and Rei Ami, the voices behind the fictional girl group HUNTR/X, who performed their hit “Golden” from “KPop Demon Hunters.” It also includes Miles Caton and Raphael Saadiq tackling “I Lied to You” from “Sinners,” though Moore told The Associated Press she was mostly involved with the “Golden” performance. She worked with a consultant and aimed to make “event television.” She was more of a support for “Sinners” choreographer Aakomon “AJ” Jones. She says both sets emphasized storytelling.
Paul Thomas Anderson won big at the Oscars with “One Battle After Another” but “Sinners” also landed major wins. But in the shadow of those big movies, actor Amy Madigan ended a 40-year wait between nomination and winning for “Weapons” and the show honored Rob Reiner and Robert Redford in a long in memoriam section. Anderson, one of the most respected filmmakers of his generation, finally won an Oscar. Then he won another. Then he won the biggest one. There were also two stunning musical performances — “I Lied to You” from “Sinners” and “Golden” from “KPop Demon Hunters.”
