Fire official confirms fatalities in a huge blaze at a Dallas apartment building

A fire official says a huge fire has destroyed a two-story apartment building in Dallas, causing fatalities and injuries. Dallas Fire-Rescue Deputy Chief Mark Berry said during a news conference that the search for missing people is ongoing, confirming “there have been fatalities.” He says first responders' mission has changed from rescue to recovery. Officials said the fire erupted after someone called 911 to report a gas leak. Assistant Chief James Russ of Dallas Fire-Rescue says at least four people were taken to a hospital with injuries.
