Authorities are searching for a shooter who killed at least two people and wounded nine others at Brown University. The shooting on Saturday happened during final exams on the Ivy League campus in Providence, Rhode Island. University President Christina Paxson says she was told 10 people who were shot were students. Another person was injured by fragments from the shooting. Officers were hunting through campus buildings and sifting through trash cans more than three hours after the shooting erupted. Police say the suspect is a man in dark clothing who was last seen leaving an engineering building where the shooting happened. Security footage shows the suspect walking away from the building but his face is not visible.

At least two people have been killed and eight critically wounded in a shooting at Brown University. University officials initially told students and staff that a suspect was in custody, before later saying that was not the case and that police were still searching for a suspect or suspects, according to alerts issued through Brown’s emergency notification system.

Authorities believe the shooter used a handgun.  An FBI agent says the arrest took place at a hotel in Coventry, about 20 miles from Providence.
