As rescue teams searched for missing people following catastrophic flooding along the Nepal-…
Rescuers have pulled out survivors caked in dark brown mud and helicopters have lifted stranded people to safety after catastrophic floods on the Nepal-China border. The countries raced to respond Friday after the flooding killed more than 470 people and left more than 1,500 missing. Nepal police said the country’s death toll had risen to 469, injured people were taken to hospitals and helicopters had carried more than 3,000 stranded people to safety. In contrast on the Chinese side, there was little information on survivors, although the death toll rose to five. Both sides were concerned about more flooding and told rescuers to remain on high alert.
