Hurricane Isaias has been downgraded to a Category 2 hurricane, which still includes extremely dangerous winds and extensive damage. The storm made landfall along the U.S. Gulf Coast Friday. The National Weather Service says rain and gusts are expected to spread northward across Central Alabama Friday night. Tropical storm activity has been above average this season in the Pacific due to a strong El Niño. In the Atlantic, El Niño’s winds and the Gulf of Mexico’s warm waters are affecting Isaias's strength.
