Leaders of the Cockroach Janata Party, an Indian youth movement, were released Sunday after being detained ahead of protests against a voter list revision. The movement demands the resignation of the country’s election chief. The three leaders were freed on condition they commit “no breach of peace for one year.” Police detained them in New Delhi on Saturday as they prepared to lead a demonstration. Authorities have launched a security crackdown in the capital, detaining over 2,000 people. The protests center on a voter list revision that critics say is politically motivated.
