The U.S. stock market is swinging between gains and losses, as Wall Street’s wild July remains rocky. Amazon is leaping on Friday, but Apple is sinking, and rising oil prices are adding to worries about inflation already squeezing the bond market. The S&P 500 added 0.4% after veering between an earlier gain of 0.7% and drop of 0.5%. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 221 points, and the Nasdaq composite climbed 0.6%. Wall Street has swung sharply through July on worries about whether Big Tech companies' AI investments will translate into profits and whether chipmaker stocks soared too high in AI euphoria.
