Israeli troops have entered a southern Lebanese village, pushing deeper into the country amid ongoing conflict. On Friday, Lebanese and Israeli military officials began direct talks at the Pentagon for the first time in decades. A nominal ceasefire went into effect on April 17, but hostilities continue. Lebanese officials seek comprehensive implementation of the ceasefire and a stop to ongoing violence. Meanwhile, Israeli airstrikes have killed at least six people. The violence comes as U.S. and Iranian negotiators reached a tentative agreement to extend their ceasefire by 60 days. Iran has not confirmed the deal.
