In-person voting for this year’s midterm elections is underway. Friday marks the start of early voting in Virginia, and voters in a few other states, including Minnesota and South Dakota, can now cast absentee ballots in person. At a voting location in Fairfax, Virginia, 18-year-old college student Sanya Singhal said she got there early to “have a little fun” and “try to be the first early voter.” In Henrico County, 63-year-old Laura Bland said she cast a ballot early to send “a signal that we’re still here” amid Trump’s efforts to curtail mail voting. Americans now have just over six weeks to decide whether they want the House and Senate to remain in Republican control or flip to Democrats. Election administrators say they’re confident the vote will be accurate and secure.
