This is the time of year when homeowners need to start taking steps to prevent the spread of wildfires.
The Reno Fire Department has teamed up with State Farm and Waste Management to help homeowners protect their homes.
Dumpsters can now be reserved for entire neighborhoods that are near wildlands.
If you qualify, a dumpster could be delivered to your neighborhood on a Thursday and you and your neighbors would have until Tuesday to load it up with all of your wildfire fuel.Â
The dumpsters are only for vegetative waste and yard debris.
Things like manmade materials and bags are not allowed.
Since embers from a wildfire can travel quite a way before landing on flammable vegetation, the Reno Fire Department and State Farm are encouraging people to get ahead of the damage and prevent it at the source.
This program will be available for the next four weeks.
