Carson City Sheriff’s Office and the Carson City Fire Department conducted an evacuation exercise at the Carson City Jail on Tuesday.

The scenario involved an electrical fire that started in the jail, forcing deputies to evacuate to the Nevada Department of Corrections Warm Springs Facility.

The CCSO coordinated with the NVDOC on inmate transportation and housing to maintain public safety.

Sheriff Ken Furlong stated, "Drills like these help us prepare for the unexpected. We take great pride in our internal training, partner relationships, and public safety. This exercise was an example of coordinating all three of those aspects of the Carson City Sheriff's Office."

Carson City says the drill took months of planning and prepared responders for real-world events.
