The Mineral County Rodeo and Festival kicks off this coming week in Hawthorne, and is being combined this year with the annual Armed Forces Day weekend.
The rodeo takes place at 802 N Street in Hawthorne and kicks off on Thursday, May 15 and continues through Saturday May 17.
Due to a sponsorship from Mineral County Opioid Awareness, entry to the rodeo and all activities on Thursday is free. On Friday and Saturday, prices are $10 per person at the gate, with children seven and under getting in free.
Attendees can expect lots of activities at the festival, including a rock wall and human whack-a-mole.
Organizers encourage anyone planning on attending to wear camo to support the armed forces.
