A Flood Watch is in effect for the Truckee Meadows through 10pm Wednesday night. A mudslide is blocking westbound lanes along I-80 near Floriston. Caltrans is working to clear up the debris. Expect delays going eastbound as well. Water is also being reported on roadways in Storey County at Gold Hill. I-80 westbound is also closed because of a mudslide between Fernley and USA Parkway. Flash flooding is possible through early Wednesday night. Drier air moves in Thursday, but storm chances are not zero.
Flash flooding was reported on Monday and Tuesday as well, particularly along I-80 towards USA Parkway and Patrick. Five day rain totals vary quite a bit, with around a quarter of an inch being reported at the Reno Airport by Wednesday afternoon, but others seeing over an inch. Thunderstorms are scattered, with pockets of heavier rain in localized areas. Five day rain totals exceeds an inch in parts of northeast California, as well as around Virginia City. Fernley has seen a lot of rain too. While rain is the primary threat, some areas are seeing wind speeds over 40mph as well.
