Reno officials have clarified that Costco has not submitted any permit applications yet for their proposed location in south Reno.

In a memo released on Wednesday, the City says Costco is instead requesting a meeting to present conceptual plans and ask questions that would help their design team finalize plans.

2 News Nevada reported yesterday that a permit was filed.

The City says information stating permits were filed was published online in error after a representative on behalf of Costco had submitted documents through the wrong website.

A new Costco could be coming to South Reno, in the Damonte Ranch area.

A permit has been filed for a new location along Steamboat Creek off of Veterans Parkway and Geiger Grade Road.

An online permit application says the project will be about 161,553 square feet with a gas station and car wash.

It also goes on to say that the "master project proposes the construction of Damonte Ranch Road to connect Veterans Parkway and Old Virginia Road, including utility extensions."

There's no immediate word yet on when the new store could open.

Currently, there are three Northern Nevada Costcos: in Reno on Harvard Way, in Spanish Springs, and in Carson City.
