Timothy Vanderlin

A Reno man was sentenced to 22 years in prison after a jury convicted him of stealing jewelry and then pawning the items off for cash.

The Washoe County District Attorney's Office says Timothy Vanderlin will be eligible for parole after serving nine years.

The DA's office says in 2020, Vanderlin worked as a handyman for a 76-year-old woman for two years  and within the last month jewelry started going missing. When the victim confronted Vanderlin, prosecutors say he admitted to stealing the items and pawning them off for cash.

During the investigation, detectives learned that Vanderlin had been selling stolen items at several pawn shops.

The jury convicted him of four counts of Burglary and four counts of Obtaining Property Under False Pretense.
