Reno Aces

The Reno Aces (5-4) were limited to two hits in a 4-0 shutout loss to the Tacoma Rainiers (7-3) Tuesday night at Cheney Stadium.  The series opener defeat snaps a three-game winning streak for the Aces.

Last season, the Aces were shut out three times by Pacific Coast League opponents, with the last time occurring on July 19th at Round Rock (L, 0-8).

Albert Almora, Jr. accounted for one of Reno’s two hits.  The 29-year-old leads the team with a .472 batting average and has collected a base knock in every game played this season for the Aces, extending his hitting streak to eight games dating back to 2022.

Reno starter, Slade Cecconi (L, 1-2) suffered the loss as the right-hander surrendered three earned runs on three hits, four walks and seven strikeouts in four-plus innings on the mound.

The Aces look to return to the win column in game two of the six-game series against the Tacoma Rainiers, Triple-A affiliate of the Seattle Mariners, Wednesday night.  First pitch is set for 6:05 p.m. PT at Cheney Stadium.
