South American Meat has announced a recall of over 20,000 pounds of frozen raw beef.

The beef included in the recall was not presented to the Food Safety and Inspection Service for reinspection upon entry to the United States.

The beef was imported from Uruguay on or around March 17 and was sold to various places in California, Arizona, Oregon and Washington.

The following products are included in the recall:

  • Frigorífico Casa Blanca S.A. AGUJA CHUCK ROLL with case code JP0001
  • Frigorífico Casa Blanca S.A. ASADO SIN HUESO SHORT RIB with case code JP0002
  • Frigorífico Casa Blanca S.A. BIFE ANCHO CUBE ROLL with case code JP0003
  • Frigorífico Casa Blanca S.A. BIFE ANGOSTO STRIPLOIN with case code JP0004
  • Frigorífico Casa Blanca S.A. BIFE GRANDE DE VACÍO FLAP MEAT with case code JP0005
  • Frigorífico Casa Blanca S.A. CARNAZA DE PALETA SHOULDER CLOD with case code JP0006
  • Frigorífico Casa Blanca S.A. LOMO TENDERLOIN with case code JP000
  • Frigorífico Casa Blanca S.A. MARUCHA OYSTER BLADE with case code JP0008
  • Frigorífico Casa Blanca S.A. PECHO BRISKET with case code JP0009 

The products included will also have the Uruguay establishment number 58 printed inside the Uruguay inspection mark on the shipping box and on the vacuum sealed packaging.

If you have any of these products, you are asked to dispose of them or return them to the place of purchase and not consume or serve them.

There have been no reports of adverse reactions to the beef, but anyone concerned should see their doctor.
