The Washoe County Sheriff's Office is mourning the loss of its police horse Cloud.
The sheriff's office says on its Facebook page that Cloud has died.
"We are sad to share that MHU Cloud has passed. Cloud was one of the original members of the Mounted Horse Unit. He was responsible for a number of special assignments, including security detail for political figures."

"Though he was primarily ridden by Sergeant Craig Turner, Cloud’s easy demeanor allowed other deputies to team up with him for a variety of assignments. It was this relationship with so many that makes this passing all the harder."

The sheriff's office ended its statement with "The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office extends its deepest condolences to the Turner family and the riders fortunate enough to call Cloud a friend."
