Israel’s election ended with no clear winner, exit polls indicate, likely setting off weeks of jockeying before a leader is declared. Israelis voted Tuesday in a pivotal election as the country grapples with unfinished wars and divisions over its future. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu voted just after midday. Turnout was high in what is widely seen as a referendum on his leadership. He faces a strong challenge from former military chief Gadi Eisenkot. The resulting gridlock could also force another election early next year, leaving Netanyahu's government in place. The election is Israel's first national vote since the Oct. 7 attack.
