For 20 years the Northern Nevada Children's Cancer Foundation (NNCCF) has helped kids in our community.
In the last five months, they've collected donations as part of the "Know the Gold" campaign. They've set a goal of $400,000 dollars and all of donations raised will help local kids.
"We are local in, local out. We are 100 percent supporting Northern Nevada kids with childhood cancer," says Co-Founder and Executive Director, Shirley Folkins-Roberts.
This is the events ninth year, and for the past five, the William N. Pennington Foundation has matched donations. This year they've raised their match to that $400,000 dollar goal.
Cancer survivors who attended say they couldn't be more thankful for all of the support they've received from NNCCF.
"From the very beginning NNCCF was there. They were actually there the day I was diagnosed but I don't remember it because it was an interesting experience. But even now they're still always trying to help me," says cancer survivor, Madeline Iroz.
