The Nevada Highway Patrol (NHP), Reno Police Department (RPD), and Sparks Police Departments (SPD) combined resources from July 26th through the 28th to conduct a regional DUI enforcement.

They say over the course of two days, the Northern Nevada DUI Strike Team patrolled in discreetly-marked "ghost" vehicles during the hours of increased impaired driving rates in an effort to find and apprehend impaired drivers.

The strike team consisted of DUI investigators and drug recognition experts.

They say during this enforcement operation, a total of 205 traffic stops were made and 24 people were arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence.

While the team patrolled, there were zero property, injury, or fatal crashes that occurred.

According to the Office of Traffic Safety, 30-35% of traffic-related deaths in Nevada involve an impaired driver.

They would like to remind people to be responsible drivers. Do not drink and drive. Designate a sober driver, plan to take public transportation or a ride-share service. If a friend or family member is impaired, take their keys and help them make other arrangements to get home safely.
