New Unemployment Applications Rise

Jobs

From Nevada JobConnect:

Nevada JobConnect will hold two job fairs this week, Wednesday, August 19, and Thursday, August 20, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day. The job fair on Wednesday will be held at the Summit Mall at 13945 S. Virginia Street, Suite 636 in Reno and the Thursday job fair will be held at the Carson City Fuji Park Exhibit Hall at 601 Old Clear Creek Road, Carson City, NV. On Wednesday, more than 50 jobs will be available with retailers and restaurants at the Summit Mall. On Thursday, more than 30 businesses will be recruiting for a combined 300 or more job openings, said Renee Olson, administrator for Nevada’s Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation’s Employment Security Division.

The job fair on Wednesday is designed to help businesses inside the Summit Mall fill open positions, while the job fair on Thursday will include businesses across all industries. Businesses at the Summit Mall job fair will be recruiting for such positions as retail sales, retail management, cooks, servers, hosts, bartenders and more.

Some of the positions at the job fair at the Fuji Park include manufacturing, baristas, clerical support, management trainees, warehouse supervisors, distribution specialists, distribution partners, plant leads, project engineers, caregivers, front desk and customer service, sales and more. “These job fairs are a great opportunity for those looking for work to meet directly with businesses and learn about a variety of jobs on the spot. Jobseekers should come dressed professionally with plenty of resumes to distribute to businesses,” Olson said. “We are pleased to have this opportunity to partner with several businesses in helping them find skilled workers for their establishments.” Nevada JobConnect provides employment-related services at no cost to jobseekers and businesses. Jobseeker services include referrals to jobs, job boards, on-line jobs database,

resume-writing assistance, referrals for job training programs, resource centers with computers, and dedicated employment services for veterans and people with disabilities.
